Barossa Bushland, Views & Boutique Wine tastings

9am to 5pm Tanunda – Murray Street, start and finish

This is a spectacular walk with views of the Barossa Valley, walking through the great Australian bush with iconic flora & fauna, picnic on local Barossa produce and taste boutique Barossa wines.

Join Walk Local on this one day walk.  Guests will be driven to the starting point in the wine area of Pewsey Vale where we walk along gravel tracks past vineyards, farmlands and forests before entering the Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park.

There are two walking trails within this park which pass through a variety of landscapes including creeks, rocky outcrops, areas of low forest, scrub and open grassland. The park has panoramic views across the ranges to the Barossa Valley.

The Wallowa Hike offers a comprehensive look at the park’s main features, including a scenic lookout and rock formations such as Horse Head Rock. Weathering and erosion have produced this rock formation which, as the name suggests, resembles a horse’s head. Capped Rock, a horizontal rock slab perched on a vertical outcrop, is another interesting feature and provides an exciting photographic challenge.

The Stringybark Loop provides a brief look at the park’s diverse flora and fauna.

We leave the Conservation Park we wind our way down the hills with glorious views over the Barossa Valley.

Stopping at Bethany for our picnic lunch enjoying famous Barossa produce.  The Barossa food story is a multi-faceted, continually evolving ode to seasonality and regionality. It tells of fruit ripened to perfection and vegetables bursting with real flavour. Of milk and cheese that taste of goodness and of poultry, pork and lamb that are fed well and nurtured with kindness. Of artisan food prepared with care and passion. Our picnic lunch showcases the very best of the Barossa.

After lunch we walk to Bethany Wines.   They have been a part of Barossa wine history since 1852.  They started their winery at the top of Bethany Road in 1981, they had a vision.

To create a complete Barossa wine experience. An experience to improve the quality of life of our customers, our friends and family.

Wine can do that.

“At Bethany Wines, we aim to live well, provide for our children and care for the land. We’ll hand our winery and vineyards on to the next generation in a better position than when we started.

For almost 40 years, we’ve shared our wines and our hospitality with visitors from around the world.  We are lucky to enjoy this wine tasting experience”.

On leaving Bethany wines we walk through Bethany, founded in 1842, Bethany is the Barossa’s oldest settlement and a village sealed in time. Home to 300 souls, the focal point of this tight-knit community remains the Herberge Christi Lutheran Church under the steady hand of Pastor David Gogoll. As we walk you will learn about the history of this unique village following the Bethany Heritage Trail which leads us to Turkey Flat Winery.

Turkey Flat Vineyard which is tucked away on the edge of Tanunda, surrounded by historic vineyards dating back to 1847. We are welcomed to the charming cellar door, a rustic bluestone building that has been lovingly restored from its previous days of the Schulz family butcher shop.  Here we taste Turkey Flat’s current release wines.

Our walk ends in the main street of Tanunda around 5pm.
