The Via Francigena is an ancient pilgrims route starting in Canterbury, England winding down through France and Switzerland into Italy. We have chosen one of the most picturesque sections in Tuscany, showcasing amazing hill towns around every turn. In medieval times pilgrims on their way to the Holy Site of Christianity – Rome, used the Via Francigena. This old road was also the main artery for trading and military activity through the ages. It is the perfect walk to immerse yourself in the real Italy.

On the Via Francigena you sleep in pilgrim’s accommodation in Convents and Monasteries, Hostels and Churches run by kind and generous Nuns, Sisters, Friars, Priests and volunteers. There are warm showers, comfy beds and wonderful hospitality. There are also plenty of B & B’s and agriturismo accommodation if you wish to choose this option.
